What is therapy

Therapy is a form of help that will work in the fight against psychological difficulties. Its key goal is to understand the difficulties we experience by discovering what may be their sources. It is a kind of journey where we go with a therapist who carefully looks at what comes in our way and draws our attention to details that we often overlook. Thanks to this, we can more consciously decide how we want to manage ourselves and our lives, how to react to certain situations and people in our lives. You could say that therapy helps us learn how to be the best version of ourselves.


What can I get from therapy ?

What and how much you can get out of therapy depends mainly on your readiness to work on yourself. The therapeutic meeting is the planning of the strategy, and its implementation takes place outside the office. Examples of skills you can learn from therapy include:

What will I not get in therapy ?

What therapy does not offer is a ready-made solution to our difficulties. Each of us is different, which is why understanding the problem and working on it can be time-consuming and demanding. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the therapist does not diagnose and does not prescribe drugs. If we care about pharmacotherapy and diagnosis, we should go to a psychiatrist for this purpose.


How can I know I'm ready for therapy ?

We can test our readiness for therapy by asking ourselves a few helpful questions:

  • Why is she going to therapy now?
  • What does he want to change about himself?
  • What's bothering me in my life?
  • How do my difficulties affect my life and how would I like my life to change?
  • Am I going to therapy for myself or for someone else?

If several answers come to mind, it may be an indication that we know what we would like to achieve in therapy and are ready to work on ourselves. The therapist at the first meetings will also help you assess your readiness.
